Hello Troops,
Everyone here at the Space Center and Discovery Space Center want to congratulate Morgan Mitchell on becoming the Sterling Scholar - Computer Technology 2013 winner for Utah.
Sterling Scholar is a Utah based competition that selects
one student from each high school in a range of categories and finds the
student that excels the most in said subject during the state
competition later in the year. It is a 50+ year old program that boasts
many honorable "alumni" and is an honor that presents Utah Students with
a unique recognition opportunity and the award of a full in-state
tuition for 4 years. The candidates were graded on a 100
point scale, split into 5 equal categories (20 points each): Leadership,
Academic Merit, Community Service, Portfolio, and Interview.
Morgan sent the following email to her friends and family:
Congratulations Morgan. This Monday my section of the state had our final Sterling Scholar Competition. I am very honored for this experience and it is because of all of you that I have gotten this far. Whether it be my time spent at iWorlds learning about technology and leadership, spending my high school career teaching social etiquette classes with Jon D. Williams Cotillion, or accumulating volunteer hours and technology experience flying around in a space ship at CMSEC; your encouragement and support have enabled me to get to where I am today.
Thank you so much for all you have done.- Morgan N. Mitchell
Your Space Center friends are proud of your accomplishment.
