Hello Space Fans!
If you're like me, you've procrastinated Father's Day and find yourself in a real pickle (It's tomorrow in case you've forgotten). This post won't offer gift suggestions - having no clue what your dad likes or doesn't like. However, I'll give you a few Father's Day card ideas I'm sure your Old Man would appreciate if he still has his sense of humor. You can make these on your computer so it isn't too late to brighten his day with an inexpensive chuckle.
Mr. W.
P.S. You can thank me later.
It's Summer Space Camp Season at the Space Education Centers!
Both of Utah Valley's Space Education Centers (CMSEC and DSC) are running summer space camps. I've popped in on a few of the camps at meal times (strange how I time my appearances). The campers are excited - the staffs are exhausted. That pretty much sums up summer camp season.
I don't know the meaning of this white board found in the Magellan Control Room (CMSEC). Set Director Connor has placed the names of everyone who works in the Magellan (except Mr. Porter) on a colored popsicle stick. Notice his name is at the top of the list. If the order signifies your importance to the Magellan then I recommend Erin and Jon get their acts together and produce the kind of quality Connor expects. Perhaps I'm wrong about importance and the order reminds the staff whose turn it is to bring treats. If that's the case, Erin and Jon are in a great position. It will be days before their turns.
Notice the board is titled "Magellan Fun Board". Using the works 'Fun Board' as a clue, I'm guessing the order represents those who Connor thinks are the funnest (or funniest) of the staff. Because I'm learning to fly the Magellan, I'm wondering if my name will make it on the board. If so, and if the order means funnest, then I'm sure my name will be at the top of the list. My name should be at the top of every honor's list and I'm sure you all agree.
The DSC staff and interns enjoy a bit of down time. It gives them a chance to share simulator war stories and have their wounds treated. Running a kids camp can be dangerous. Their excited for two reasons: they just got fed and feel ready for another few hours, and Black Ops was on the schedule. Every camper at the DSC loves Black Ops, especially with an entire school to use as your base.
Casey Voeks has the campers lined up and ready for boarding. The young man at the front of the line wearing the green shirt is trying to bring an unregistered lifeform into the ship. I wonder if Casey will notice.
The campers are loaded and the Starship Everest is ready for warp speed.
Contact me if you're interested in learning more about summer space camp at either of the valley's Space Education Centers. You can reach me at spacecamputah@gmail.com.
