Simulator Decommissioning. Your Last Chance to Walk Through the Simulators that Started it All
Three Events Planned for March 28
9:00 - 11:00 A.M.
Open House for the General Public:
Walk through the simulators one last chance before they close on May 14 (you can book private missions in your favorite ship until May 14).
11:15 - 11:45 A.M.
Current and Former Staff and Volunteers gather for a short program and thank you
11:45 A.M. - 1:30 P.M. Sandwich Club Former Paid Staff Only From 1990-2013: (Those who were on Timecard)
Come and Go; however there will be a Short Program at 12:00 Noon (Ticket Required)
Current and Former Staff Only (those who were or are on timecard. Be sure to do your touring BEFORE 11:00 A.M.
The simulators will be involved in private missions after 11:00 A.M.
This Sandwich Club requires a TICKET so we can make necessary arrangements foodwise. Please contact me for your ticket. Director@SpaceCampUtah.org

T - 00:14 New Simulators
Same great ships with some significant upgrades. Right after the excitement of the planetarium comes our eagerness to get behind the controls of our new ships. In the history of simulators we have always added onto the building, adapted unused space, or simply parked in the cafeteria. Now we have ships designed and built for our unique needs. No more covering school bricks behind a false wall. It is now the hull of the ship, and it will look and feel like it.
The Magellan, Phoenix, Odyssey, and Galileo have all been redesigned and retrofitted with a look and feel that will be unparalleled with what we have had before. Many of these details will have to wait to be revealed as the ships are currently just framed walls and wiring.
That being said, it gives us great delight to share that each simulator will have a unique feel and character to establish the most robust and well armed fleet of simulators ever to have been constructed.
Construction Highlight: Mike
Mike is part of the design team from VCBO Architecture working on our new facility. As you can imagine there are a lot of unique difficulties when designing a facility for a fleet of starship simulators. There aren't exactly a lot of designs to compare with. In addition most architects will never have the chance to work on a planetarium during their career.
So we greatly appreciate Mike's patience, innovation, and efforts on making our project so amazing. We really do throw a lot of curve balls at him and he has come up with some great solutions. Thank you Mike and good luck with that plasma core installation.
