Canyon Grove's Open House Announcement. Please come. |
The Everest and Pathfinder simulators at Canyon Grove Academy in Pleasant Grove are taking shape in preparation for an open house this Monday (see notice above).
I stopped by the school earlier today to take photos of the last minute push. There are one hundred things to do and very little time to do them so it's all hands on deck! After several near collisions with DSim's Skyler, BJ, Brandon and the other builders, I learned quickly to stand out of the way and let them get on with the business of simulator building.
Skyler installing the aluminum covering on the partition separating the command offices from from stairway leading to the upper bridge section.
Brandon unpacking the mounting brackets for the Everest's 70 inch main view screen.
Two things to notice in the picture above. The metal track houses the multi-spectrum LED bridge lighting system. The LED's are capable of throwing multiple colors onto the ship's ceiling. The round openings will house the ship's speaker system.
The builders gather for a discussion while a Canyon Grove student vacuums. Megan Warner, former director of the Christa McAuliffe Space Education Center, was there to get a VIP tour from her brother BJ.
Four of the Everest's bridge computer stations will be mounted on two metal supports seen above. I asked BJ to stand one upright for the photo. Bless his heart, he tried. Big sis stepped in to steady the load and give his quivering arms much needed assistance.
Several of the Everest's and Pathfinder's computer desks were outside ready for their final touch ups.

These two ships will bring the total number of space edventures simulators in Utah county to eleven! Please set aside some time on Monday to attend the open house and be sure to hunt me down and say hello.
