Hello Troops,
We opened the USS Voyager at Central Elementary School 25 years ago this month. Did I think the simulation concept pioneered on the Voyager would or could expand like it has? I was doubtful for the first two decades, but thanks to very creative, dedicated, and inspired imagineers and former Space Center campers like Gary Gardiner and the good folks at Dreamflight Adventures, those doubts have disappeared to confidence and admiration.
Once again, The Troubadour celebrates another major achievement in simulator centered experiential education with the opening and first missions of the newest ship in the fleet, the IKS Artemis Charger in Valencia, Venezuela under the directorship of Admiral Sal of the Colegio Internacional de Carabobo.
Please take a few minutes and enjoy this video of a class of 5th graders on the mission of their young lives.
The list of USS Voyager inspired simulators continues to grow locally. Merit Academy in Springville, Utah recently opened their first simulator this month with plans to offer field trips to local schools starting in January.
Renaissance Academy in Lehi, Utah is close to completing the USS Voyager II. I teach 6th grade at Renaissance and am proud to say this new Voyager simulator will be my home ship. The Voyager II will continue the original USS Voyager's mission by offering outstanding simulations and curriculum to the students of Renaissance Academy and, through the Voyager Club, students living throughout northern Utah.
Lakeview Academy in Saratoga Springs started construction of two new simulators scheduled to open in the summer of 2016. Lakeview is currently the home of the USS Leo simulator.
I feel confident the next 25 years will see this unique brand of simulator based experiential education spread across the world. Thank you for your continued support.
