Challenger Centers a Source of Inspiration in the Creation of the Christa McAuliffe Space Center.
I did my homework before I created the Christa McAuliffe Space Center. I didn't want to waste a moment of time or precious money in the curriculm and Voyager simultor until I travelled the country looking at what was already in use. Two of my stops were at Challenger Centers, one in Texas and one in California. During each trip I learned a great deal in the mechanics of creating a simulator and designing a mission. Although in the end I chose a different path for the Christa McAuliffe Space Center - a path which steered away from a strickly scientific approach to a space simulation and more towards the far future and the social sciences, the lessons learned from the good people at Challenger gave me the inspiration and confidence I needed as I embarked on a truly "out of this world" Imagineering endeavor.

It's amazing to see how far we have come in a year. We are so very excited to be able to offer so many fantastic and unique experience in our new facility. A 40 foot planetarium dome and six state of the art starship simulators are on their way.
Music composed by the very talented Greg Hansen, a sample of our soon to be released Space Center soundtrack.
As always, thank you to Alpine School District #alpineschools Hogan & Associates Construction VCBO Architecture and all the generous financial donors who have made this project possible.
It feels like announcements about new discoveries are happening at an ever increasing rate. What a great benefit to have a local planetarium that can help us showcase these details in a vivid display. When space missions like the Psyche and Parker Solar Probe start sending back their data and images you’ll be able to join us to celebrate and view this up to date content. Images of the universe are not meant to be merely looked at on your tiny phone, make it an immersive experience by planning your visit to the planetarium!
Take a look at our new renderings of the interior for our planetarium!
A Forbes report on the Liberty Science Center in New Jersey gives a good sample of what’s coming our way software wise as we’ll be using the same Digistar 6 system from Evans & Sutherland - https://www.forbes.com/video/5724281722001/
