Alex Anderson Presents Thorium at the React Programming Conference in Nevada

     Programmer extraordinaire Alex Anderson did a presentation at the React programming conference in Nevada last Friday. Alex has done amazing work in building Thorium, an open source software used for starship simulations in Utah's 13 starship simulators located at five schools in Utah County. 

     
     What a powerful presentation. Alex did a superb job encapsulating the Space Edventures philosophy. His enthusiasm seemed to electrify the audience. He is perhaps the movement's greatest champion. Our simulators function because of his vision. As Alex says in his presentation: "It is serendipity".      

     The CMSC's James Porter said it right in a recent Facebook post:  "We want to shout out our praises for Alex's contributions over the years...... and his many achievements since. Volunteers are the lifeblood of our programs and he has donated many a pint."

The Christa McAuliffe Space Center's Think Tank Meets to do What They Do Best;  THINK.

     

     Last week I attended the first "Think Tank and Meal" at the Christa McAuliffe Space Center. Surrounding me were many of the best and brightest minds in the Space EdVentures service, most of whom you'll see a lot of in the new Space Center scheduled to open this spring. James Porter gave a presentation on the new Space Center with several interesting drawings of the planetarium and simulators.  These drawings are not yet available for posting at the moment  but will be once the green light is given. We discussed everything from simulator lay out to traffic flow to volunteering titles to storage and much more. 
     Stay tuned for updates on the new Space Center as they become available.

     Just before the Think Tank started this crew entered the Discovery Room to purchase pins commemorating their successfully completed mission on the Phoenix.  These are true blue Space Center fans who proudly wear their mission pins on their sashes.  I never grow tired seeing departing crews showing their appreciation of what we've created over the past 29 years.
