New Pictures from the Odyssey II at the Space Center. Space and Science News. The Imaginarium

Hello Troops,
I'm home from another long day in the London Room at Renaissance.  It was test day for my three math classes.  Tomorrow we find out how they did.

Several of our Farpoint Voyager Cadets are on a Galileo test mission this evening at the CMSEC.  The CMSEC is training new flight directors.  Test missions play a major role in flight director training.

Another update on the new Odyssey II at the Christa McAuliffe Space Education Center.  Construction continues on schedule.  I know many of our Troubadour readers were great fans of the original Odyssey and looking forward to flying in the Odyssey II once it opens next month.  As always, The Troubadour will keep you updated on all Space Center news from all the centers:  Christa McAuliffe, Discovery Space Center, Farpoint at Renaissance and Lakeview.

The First Photo of Earth From Space
This photo was taken in space right after World War II (24th October, 1946). A team of soldiers and scientists used a German-made V-2 missile equipped with a camera to capture this shot, from an altitude of 65 miles above the surface of New Mexico. It is, officially, the first ever photo of Earth to be taken from space.

The Farpoint Voyager's Youth Club to Open at Renaissance this Month. An Assortment of Worth Watching Videos. The Imaginarium.

Hello Troops,
I welcomed three new Farpoint cadets into our Farpoint Voyager's youth program this weekend.  Welcome Andy R., Kaylee G., and Cody W.  We're glad you've joined us.
Renaissance Academy students will receive their first Farpoint Voyager Cadet Club flyer this week at school. We currently have over 70 cadets in the program, not counting future Renaissance students. Regular Farpoint Voyagers meetings will begin in two weeks.  Two meeting will be held monthly, one on a Thursday evening and another on a Saturday morning.  Cadets may attend one or both.  Visit our website (farpointstation.org) for information on becoming a cadet.
Farpoint will offer the usual merit badge classes this school year and I'm happy to report our usual teachers will join us at our new location.

  • Aleta Clegg will teach nuclear science and geology
  • Bill Schuler will teach aviation
  • Mark Daymont will teach space exploration and astronomy

Information on the merit badge classes will be online Wednesday (Farpointstation.org).  Current Farpoint Cadets, please check your emails toward the end of this week for news on our September club meetings.  We've got a great school year planned.
