Hello Space Center Fans,
Since it's launch around 2:30 on Wednesday the new Christa McAuliffe Space Education Center video has had over 4,000 views on Facebook. The really great thing about the video is how it came to be. A fan of the Space Center contacted me a couple weeks ago by email and asked if he could help out. As a professional within the field of media he recognized that there wasn't something that showed the excitement of the group missions offered at the center. After presenting the concept/storyboard of the video he was given approval on the project. A date for filming was set for the next week.
In just a couple of hours with the Odyssey set director Natalie and a few actors, the footage was gathered. Weaving his mastery of the media craft the effects and editing were finished that very night and the video was complete. Now it stands as a great sample of what the simulations are like for participants. Not only that but it shows what you can do as you follow your passion and pursue a career or field of study that excites you. As you can read on his webpage, the volunteer who did all of this, Brennan Tolman, started out his business at age 17.
Brennan isn't the only professional who has lent their talents to make our program better. Many professionals have made great contributions to the Space Center over the years. Whether it be programming the custom controls or sewing amazing uniforms, the Space Center is the benefactor of your many hours of service. We'll continue to strive to put that service to benefit the lives of every patron that passes through our doors. Thank you for your service, we wouldn't be what we are without you. To our aspiring volunteers, go and find someone around you that needs your skills, even if it is just a listening ear on a difficult day.
