First Photos of the Newest Simulator Under Construction, the IKS Dreamcatcher at Penn Hills Elementary, Penn Hills, Pennsylvania. The Imaginarium.

Hello Troops,
Gary Gardiner, CEO of Dream Flight Adventures, recently posted the following photos showing the construction of another ship in the fleet of Space EdVentures simulators (SEdSims).  SEdSims is a generic term I use for brick and mortar simulators which follow the basic structure of missions we pioneered at Central Elementary School in Pleasant Grove from 1983 to the present.  There are currently 13 SEdSims currently in operation or in the design stage:

Christa McAuliffe Space Education Center, Utah:
     Magellan, Galileo, Odyssey, Phoenix.
The Discovery Space Center, Utah:
     Columbia, Challenger, Atlantis, Endeavor.
Lakeview Academy, Utah:
     Leo
Renaissance Academy / Farpoint, Utah:
     Vanguard
Shaler Hills Elementary / Dream Flight Adventures (Pennsylvania):
     Titan
Carnegie Museum / Dream Flight Adventures (Pittsburgh):
     In Development
Penn Hills Elementary / Dream Flight Adventures (Pittsburgh):
     Dreamcatcher (In Construction)

Each SEdSim is different. and each parent organization approaches the methodology, missions and curriculum its own way.  But at their core, each SEdSim shares that same immersive, experiential foundation first imagined in room 18 at Pleasant Grove's Central School in March 1983, when I sat behind my desk for the first time with boom box and overhead projector at the ready to take my first group of 6th graders on a voyage into the unknown.

The IKS Dreamcatcher is located in Penn Hills Elementary, Penn Hills, Pennsylvania.  The Penn Hills School District (PHSD) is a public school district located in suburban Pittsburgh, serving the community of Penn Hills, which is about 10 miles (16 km) east of Downtown Pittsburgh.

Thanks Gary for sharing these photos.  Please keep 'em coming.

Mr. W.

The mooring clamps hissed as the shuttle slid smoothly into docking position.  The airlock light turned from red to yellow and finally to green, indicating that it was safe to disembark.  Admiral Starblayze pushed open the hatch and stepped aboard Massaro Deep Space Shipyard, which was stationed in an uncharted corner of the universe so remote that it can only be reached by a child’s imagination.  It was here, at a cosmic intersection of Imagination and Elbow Grease, that the IKS Dreamcatcher was being constructed.Like its sisters in the Infinity Knights fleet, the IKS Dreamcatcher will bear its intrepid crews of bright-minded children to the far reaches of imagination and reality.  The stalwart construction crew give freely of their skill, strength, and sweat, for they know that the fate of the future rests upon the shoulders of the rising generation.
Admiral Starblayze beamed as he looked through the observation window and caught first glance at the Dreamcatcher.  Still in the early stages of construction, it shone like a beacon through the darkness.  This labor of love is progressing rapidly, and in only a matter of months it will embark on missions of learning and adventure unlike any other!
