Hello Space Center Fans!
I was sleeping rough again last night at the Discovery Space Center, chaperoning an overnight camp consisting of Lehi High School's student body officers. They were superb. They even did something I've never seen at any Space Center overnight camp. Right before going to sleep, the five juniors and seniors in my care had scripture study. In the dark, after lights out, I heard one of them reading from the Book of Mormon (on his smartphone) to his classmates. I was impressed. I'd say Lehi High was in good hands.
Jorden O. Such a trusting face. |
Jorden O. greeted me as I walked in the DSC with pillows and blanket in hand. "I'm in charge tonight. It's my first overnight camp as D.O.D. (director on duty)." He hoped I would approve. I began looking for things to 'get' him on. In the end, there was only one. His staff had blocked the exit in the boy's sleeping area's with five benches. I pointed it out. He corrected the problem.
Jorden ran the camp efficiently and on time. He did everything by the book. Perhaps his most impressive feat was getting up 45 minutes before the campers, starting the ships, unlocking the DSC's doors and getting the breakfast out.
I'm happy to say that Jorden gets his Space Center breakfast pass (despite the fact that he forgot the second fruit choice - something always offered at the Space Center). You old time Space Center fans recognize a traditional Space Center breakfast, don't you?
A traditional Space Center breakfast consists of fruit, Gogurts, donuts, chocolate milk, white milk, and some kind of simulated orange juice. Jorden got it down pretty well for his first time as D.O.D on an overnight camp. Congratulations Jorden on a job well done.
Mr. W.

Philosophy goes where hard science can't, or won't. Philosophers have a license to speculate about everything from metaphysics to morality, and this means they can shed light on some of the basic questions of existence. The bad news? These are questions that may always lay just beyond the limits of our comprehension.
